Congress overrides presidential veto on Medicare “fix” bill

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate and House voted 70 to 26 and 383 to 41, respectively, to override President George W. Bush’s veto of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (H.R. 6331). The bill was initially sent to the President on July 9, after the Senate was finally able to end debate on the legislation after weeks of political maneuvering.
